So this morning it looks likely that ol' pointy finger is off to the bright lights and sunshine to join up with David Beckham at LA Galaxy in a deal believed to be worth between £5-10m. This still represents a huge loss for Spurs but should the deal go ahead it would free up important funds including wages with Keane currently the joint top earner at the club. Keano who has scored 123 goals for us in 306 appearances became only the 15th players wearing the famous lillywhite shirt to pass the 100 goal mark and currently sits at ninth in out all time goalscorers list. Tom Huddlestone...Boy or Man?

Thomas Andrew Huddlestone joined Spurs in January 2005 with much promise and the ever weighty tag of 'potential' after six seasons at pride park and 95 appearances.

Former manager at Derby County George Burley said of Huddlestone, "He's a terrific talent. As a young player, he (is) the best passer of a ball I (have) ever seen, and I've worked with some good young players." Fine praise indeed from the former Scotland star and Coach but the potential as yet remains unfulfilled and the crowd at White Hart Lane still seem to have mixed feelings about the man and the myth.

At the age of just 12 Huddlestone was released by his first club Nottingham Forest having been judged to be 'not strong enough', leaving the tall midland born teenager to look for a new club. Finding a new home at Derby County, Huddlestone or 'Thudd' as he has been nicknamed by many of the Spurs faithful, made his debut at the age of 16 and was later voted man of the match for his performance against Stoke City despite the teams defeat that day.

Even in those early stages, the eye for a long range pass was already there with Huddlestone spraying his trademark long range passes across the pitch during the game and already scouts across the country were circling.

Spurs agree Huddlestone fee

Finally Spurs got their man and completed a £2.5m deal for the then unknown midfielder and it wasn't long before he was loaned out to Wolves giving him the playing time he would have otherwise have lacked.

It was under Martin Jol that Huddlestone began to flourish, earning his first Spurs start against Slavia Prague and being compared by Jol to German legend Franz Beckenbauer due to his eye for picking out a pass and fine movement.

During his 6 year stay at Spurs Huddlestones' career has hit peaks and troughs with the highlight thus far coming in his captaining of the team on matchday 4 of last seasons Champions League campaign, beating holders Inter Milan. There have also been times when the lad just seems to go missing in games and frustratingly he looks reluctant to use his size and build to take command of the midfield which would add a great dimension to his game.

There have been some great goals and some very good games from 'Thudd', consistency however is the key for any successful Premier League player in developing from being a boy to becoming a man!

Autonomy Our New League Sponsor!

After many months of discussion and photoshopping, we have today announced Autonomy to be the new sponsor of our shirts for league games. The deal rumoured to be worth around £20 million makes Autonomy only the 5th company to have their logo on the famous lillywhite shirts. Sponsors for our cup games are yet to be announced with similar figures being thrown around which all adds to the transfer kitty with just over a month until the new season begins.

Chairman Daniel Levy commented:

Bale Player Of The Season

After our very own summer break, we can announce that you voted Gareth Bale as your e-Spurs player of the 2009/2010 season with 29% of the vote! Gareth, who recently signed a new contract with us fending off possible interest from Italy had a lightning finish to the season, scoring the vital goals against rivals Chelsea and Arsenal at White Hart Lane.

After an injury hit season, Aaron Lennon still managed to provide enough high points to clinch 2nd and Dawson/Defoe claimed 3rd!

Spurs 2-0 Portsmouth

In this FA Cup semi-final rehearsal at White Hart Lane, Spurs took control from early in the game and by the second half the game had the pace and feel of a friendly. Kyle Walker made his Tottenham debut and looked assured at the back and with seven games to play, spurs moved 5 point clear of our top 4 rivals.

Portsmouth began brightly and Anthony Vanden-Borre went close producing a save from the almost redundant Gomes. after that the traffic and the scoring was all one way and it was a surprise perhaps that it took Spurs so long for Gareth Bale to nip in another great cross from the left for Crouch to head home at the near post.

As half time approached, Huddlestone crashed a 25 yard drive against the crossbar and the ping pong in the area was ended with a looping shot from Crouch which again struck the woodwork. Spurs were not to be denied however and the 2nd came when Luka Modric powered a shot into the area which Mullins could only block and kranjcar produced a neat flick which trickled into the net.

The 2nd half was as slow a game as you will ever see played. The pace had gone and the first half Spurs show had by now killed Pompey off. Gomes denied Pompey any consolation saving from Michael Brown when the former Spur looked odds on to score.

As the final whistle blew, Spurs fans were already looking towards another massive game next weekend against Sunderland. With everything crossed we are also hoping for the return of a certain Aaron Lennon!

14% increase in merchandising income

Gate receipts £10.6m compared to £10.4m in 2008
Sponsorship and corporate hospitality income fell be 11% mainly due to having no European football

Team News

Bassong, Palacios, Pav and Walker are all fighting to be fit for the massive game on Saturday against Portsmouth. Pavlyuchenko performed heroics by playing at all on Wednesday night and Gudjohnsons recent performances have at least given us other options up-front. Wilson not only has that abductor tear but the yellow card issue still hanging over him like a dark cloud and a 2 match ban that comes with it.

Corluka, King, Lennon, Defoe, Jenas are all definitely out of the game and fingers will be crossed that they make it back for our all important month of April! Don't forget to join the match chat in the e-Spurs forum!

Finally, Spurs have today confirmed that the formalities have been completed on the deal and Sandro is now officially a Spur come the summer. Really refreshing to see that this one has been tied up and not become another of those that got away! Credit to Levy for putting in the work for what appears to have been a rather complicated deal to say the least!

Pompey Coming to Town!

After the heroics and storming 2nd half performance on Wednesday night, we must now focus on another massive battle at White Hart Lane this Saturday. Pompey travel on the back of a 5-0 home thrashing against Carlo Ancelottis title chasers and will be determined to repair the pride and reputation of the leagues bottom placed club. It is somewhat cliche but every game we go into is now a cup final and nails will be well and truly bitten between now and the end of the season. Vedran Corluka may well miss out after picking up a knock in the Fulham game and it will be interesting to see who 'Arry picks from Pav and Gudjohnson up front after the performance of both in midweek.

The midfield is the most interesting area for me after the return of Bentley and Huddlestone. Which four will Redknapp pick with Modric, Kranjcar, Palacios and Bale also in contention. Thudd may well return and cause Kranjcar or Modric to start the game on the sidelines. I would prefer us to use the width and crossing of Bentley leaving Thudd and one of the Croatians on the bench. A win will give us a 7 point advantage over Liverpool with 7 games to play!

Wembley Here We Come!

FA Cup Q Final Replay

With Spurs injury list fast resembling the credits for an episode of Casualty and the rain starting to trickle down the golden cockerel adorning the roof over White Hart Lane, this could well have been a night of slip-ups for the lillywhites. Indeed in years gone by, trailing 0-1 at half time and being outplayed by the visitors, you would have been hard pushed to see a way back into the game for Redknapps men......but not now!

Spurs replaced a few players from the weekend win at the Britannia with Palacios and Gudjohnson starting and Pavlyuchenko sitting it out on the bench due to the knock picked up on Saturday. With half an hour gone, it looked as though 11 changes had been made and they had never met each other as Fulham strutted around White Hart Lane like Mohammed Ali facing a rookie, Spurs were well and truly on the ropes. When Bobby Zamora struck low after a neat move to notch up Fulhams goal, only the crazy could argue that it was no more than they deserved. Indeed the boos rung around a strangely quiet stadium as the players trudged off for a session with the bull and china shop and the word around the terrace burger bars and pub tables was that changes were needed if we were to steer ourselves back onto Wembley Way.

The 2nd half started with a reinvigorated Spurs and the introduction of Thudd and Bentley appeared to be paying off. With his first touch of the ball Bentley swung in a free kick which as well as being impossible to defend, avoided everyone and nestled into the net at the near post to bring Spurs level. The crowd were breathing a huge sigh of relief and now had hope. Bentleys superb crosses were also immediately noticeable after the dismal efforts of the first half and this eventually paid dividends. One of which found Roman Pavlyuchnko, on for the injured Corluka, at the far post to volley home and give the home team some breathing space. The clouds were beginning to disperse to give us an even clearer view across London towards that arch. Some silky Spurs-style passing led to our third killer goal with Eidur Gudjohnson darting into the box to poke the ball past a outstretched goalkeeper.

The Wembley songs were belted out at full pelt as the final whistle blew and the soaked hoards headed towards Seven Sisters with a smile on their faces after our much improved second half performance. Then some news came through which extended those smiles even wider, the poor results for Man City and Villa. In the City, they would call this a very good day at the office! Pompey will be a tough game in the semis, but we go there on April 11th full of confidence and with a squad with real depth!

After an initial soaking, that cockerel's crowing once again, over the Wembley semi-finalists home turf!

So it's another FA Cup replay, this time for a place in the semi-finals against Portsmouth at Wembley Stadium.

Spurs go into the game on the back of the 2-1 win over Hull and on the injury front (I say this with EVERYTHING crossed) things look to be improving somewhat. News today from Spurs Lodge is that Thudd and Bentley are back in training and may feature in the game and that Aaron Lennon is back in training and could be only a few weeks away from a return. Jermain Defoe is also in light training and shouldn't be too far away from banging in more goals to add to his tally this season. Pavs injury is also not as bad as first thought so he should be back to face Portsmouth at the Lane at the weekend.

Now that the madness of the transfer widow has calmed down along with the endless speculation and gossip, we will now publish the stories that DID happen. We decided not to get involve in the gossip as it would have meant about 300 extra posts for you to scroll through and we would rather stick to the facts. So, here's what happened....

During the transfer window, Spurs announced a partnership with Brazilian team Internacionale. We already have partnerships with Supersport of South Africa and the San Hose Earthquakes of the USA. This is thought to of happened at the same time as Spurs were negotiating to but their midfielder and Brazilian under-20 Captain Sandro. There may be more to come on that one!

Jamie o'hara has joined Portsmouth on loan and we have also sold Kevin Prince Boateng to the same club. The o'hara deal is thought to be the reason the we managed to get £4million for KPB, a player who rarely featured at WHL.

Spurs have been drawn to face Preston in the third round of the Carling Cup. The match will take place at Deepdale on Wednesday 23rd September.

It has been reported that Spurs are in discussions with winger Jankulovski. More as it comes on this one! This was just one of numerous links during the last few days of the transfer window which failed to materialise including:

As yet no news on if Jermain Jenas is part of any deal or fees involved but we are told Harry is very interested in bringing Muntari to White Hart Lane after deals for Sissoko and Sandro seem to have stalled. Pascale Chimbonda was tonight sold to Blackburn for a fee understood to be around £2m. The player was due to take part in out game at Doncaster but was withdrawn as a result of the transfer.

As the close of the transfer window draws nearer, the rumor mill cranked up a gear today linking us with several familiar names and 1 old face on his way out.

The London Paper is reporting that Spurs have accepted a £2m bid from Blackburn for Pascal Chimbonda who only returned to the club in Jan but in that time has made just 5 appearances.

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp has urged Daniel Levy to tie Luka Modric to a new contract with Sir Alex seemingly taking an interest in out Croatian schemer.

Our interest in Sandro looks ongoing with Inter president Vitorio Piffero describing the Spurs offer offer as "reasonable but did not reach the value we are looking for." Sandro then described the situation in this way, "I now know of the offer but my head is at Internacional. If it wasn’t accepted, no problem."

We understand Spurs are still interested in Sissoko while a final decision has yet to of been made on trialists Kevin Anin and Honduran defender Osman Chavez.

Spurs in for Sandro!

e-Spurs understand that Spurs are in discussions as we speak with Internacional of Brazil over their defensive midfielder Sandro Ranieri.

Spurs reps are in Porto Alegre and are thought to be negotiating a fee of around €16 million, however 30% of the final fee will go to an investors group who own a share of the player currently.

Although he has only been part of the Inter first team since the start of the year, Ranieri in the Brazil under 20 Captain.

West Ham 1-2 Spurs

Spurs recorded our third win in our first three games this season sending us back to the top of the early league table and as we were reminded many times today, the last Spurs side to win their first three games of the season was none other than the 60/61 double side.

Spurs this time showed the bottle and strength to come from behind for the 1st time this season and were again impressive with our pressurising of the opposition and the clinical Defoe in front of goal.

On a day where temperatures soared, Spurs had possibly the best chance of the first half with Ledley Kings flicked header crashing against the bar leaving Robert Green Beaten. West Hams best chance of the first 45 came with Carlton Cole failing to get his foot to a great cross.

The second half began with more pace than the first and we looked increasingly dangerous on the counter attack. That was until a goal out of the blue when Carlton Cole turned outside the box and hammered in a shot past Cudicini from outside of the box. My initial reaction was that Carlo may be a little disappointed at not having made more of an effort to save the shot, however the power and pace probable took him by surprise at it did the rest of us!

With Fabio Cappello watching from the stands, Cole must of been buzzing. That was until around 5 minutes later when Cole attempted a pass to a team-mate towards his own goal. This turned out to be an excellent pass for the in-form Jermaine Defoe who unleashed another powerful thunderbolt past Robert Green from the edge of the box to make it 1-1.

Spurs were now buzzing and pacey on the counter attack and another in-form player, Aaron Lennon needed no invitation to shoot when he cut inside and curled a lovely shot around green into the bottom corner.

A few heated moments followed but Spurs played out the remaining minutes before the final whistle signalled our 2-1 win and us jumping back to the top of the early league table and above Arsenal.

Sundays game sees us travel to Upton Park on the back of two wins from our opening two games. Early team news in suggests that Jenas, Bale, Woodgate and Dawson are once again likely absentees with the team remaining pretty much the same as in midweek apart from the change in goalkeeper with Carlo Cudicini replacing the injured Gomes.

Last Seasons encounters saw us do the double over West Ham with a 2-0 win at Upton Park (Jamie o'Hara and Ledley King grabbing the goals) and a 1-0 win at the lane. A win should see us return to the top of the early league table and we are hearing that if Jenas remains unfit, Kevin Prince-Boateng may start to get a place in the squad or bench until he returns!

Rumors continue today with Jamie o'Hara looking to be on his way with Sissoko coming in. Alan Hutton is also attracting interest from 2 clubs but will not be sold for less that £15million.

Take this one with a pinch of salt but e-Spurs have heard that Waffa Benitez may also be on the brink of walking away from Liverpool. More as we get it!

The draw for the group stages of the Uefa cup 08/09 took place at Uefa HQ yesterday and I think it's a draw that many in and around White Hart Lane would say they are pretty happy with. Spurs were drawn in group D which looks like this:

Ramos To Earn His Spurs?

Juande's remaining chipper despite all around him running about like headless chickens and doing their best impersonation of a club in crisis. Spurs travel to Poland today in what is, less than 2 months into the season, a must win game for Ramos and his Spurs. Our best results this season have been on the road with a draw at Chelsea and a win up at Newcastle the only positives so far. Today's k.o is now 14.30 BST.

As I recently posted, Juande has not become a bad Manager overnight and the Director of Football is, in my opinion, more to blame for Spurs current plight. But back to today and Spurs have Alan Hutton missing again and as we all know by now Messrs Pavlyuchenko & Corluka are cup tied. My predicted line up is as follows:

Spurs Set For Possible Takeover?

Reports in the Sunday edition of The Observer state that Spurs may be on the verge of a takeover by an Asian billionaire and although no bid has yet been made, they suggest that super-agent Pini Zahavi may be in talks as we speak with the billionaire in Singapore. The club have not instructed Mr Zahavi according to the article but he is allegedly seeking to broker a deal.

Spurs Lame At The Lane

So the game is done and the autopsy began even before the final whistle rung around White Hart Lane like tumbleweed through a graveyard. The chorus of boos were loud and to some extent deserved, but with a great manager such as Ramos at the helm (and yes he is that good), we would only be taking another 10 steps South if we were to lose him now. The fickle finger of football fortune today points its ravaged finger and bitten nail towards us. Elsewhere according to the same Man Citeh fans who wanted everyone sacked a few weeks ago, they are now the best team on earth!

Watching at White Hart Lane on Sunday, surrounded by boos and jeers, I could not help but feel that football, no The Premier League in particular, has lost the plot. Yes this may sound like sour grapes as we are struggling at the moment with little confidence and other teams seemingly moving on to bigger things as we languish in Neverland, however I beg to differ.

Last season when we were only a small amount of luck and the width of a goalpost better off than we are now at this stage, I was part of the boo boys calling for Big Mart to face the chop and bemoaning his negative tactics and lack of respect a minority of the players seemed to have for him. Maybe this season I am a little older and wiser or both, but when the boos and venom escorted the players from the field at half time on Sunday, I almost felt as disappointed with the fellow fans with whom I share my afternoons of pain down The Lane as I did with the players who had shown us so little.

Now I'm a bad loser, which makes me far from an ideal Spurs fan i guess and over the years there have been times and defeats which have resulted in a weekend of sulking and avoiding any form of football coverage in the media (I'll grow up one day). This season though i just cannot help but feel sorry for Ramos and the situation he now finds himself in. There were rumours at the weekend that he was homesick and to be honest at the moment I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to walk away from the club and the ludicrous structure that the board have put in place and by that I am referring to the Director of Football position.

If we, Tottenham Hotspur, are to ever become a force again, which at the moment seems about as possible as a Robbie Keane header, we MUST give Ramos total charge a la Wenger & Ferguson. Maybe I was blinded to this by my love of Spurs and wanting the structure to work for the best. Whatever the reason previously, now I am passionately against the Director of Football post and having more than 1 person choosing and buying players. Of course I'm not naive enough to think that Messrs Fergie and Wenger do absolutely everything at their clubs but 1 thing I am sure of is if they say jump, everyone jumps.

The messy end to the transfer window which saw us become an unofficial feeder club to Man Yoo, training up one of their potential stars only for them for them to whip him back off of us if he does well and a number of reportedly failed efforts to lure other targets saw us left limp sided and weak in a number of blatantly obvious area. Yes I agree, Berbs and Keano wanted to go, in fact I did not want them anywhere near our club after Levy's announcement, but leaving the signing of any replacements for theses players till the last minute when we knew weeks/months before that they wanted out, seems to me nothing short of shocking! What must have been going through Ramos' mind as the seconds ticked away and replacements were as distant as a Berbatov smile?

In summary, yes i am upset, disappointed, worried and depressed with the current form of the team, but a note to all those who booed at half time on Sunday, think about what Ramos has achieved during the latter part of his career and the style and type of players he brings with him. Now think about the men who are supposed to provide him with the tools in the form of players capable of big things and the finance in order to broker the deal (even if it means stretching an extra few million for a top drawer player and not trying to be too clever). Maybe Ramos and the team deserve some support and patience after all and maybe, just maybe, there are people who occupy seats in the West Upper who deserve the jeers far more and have four very sweaty palms at this moment in time.

Young Keepers Loaned Out

Spurs confirmed today that we have loaned out 2 of our young pro goalkeepers.

David Button (pictured) will join Grays Athletic who ply their trade in The Blue Square Premier and Lee Butcher joins up with Margate of the Ryman Premier, both for one month.

Hopefully these moves will provide them with valuable experience!

The club have revealed that little Luca Modric will play no Part in the Wisla game due to the injury he picked up v A Villa. Also still out is Alan Hutton and Pav & Corluka are, as has been well documented, cup tied. Jenas should return to the side as well as bently and Giovani.

Euro Nights Return To WHL!

So after the shambles of Monday night, European football returns to The Lane with Spurs still hoping to record both their first win and first clean sheet of the season. We should see the return of King, Bentley, Jenas etc to the starting line-up and they will hopefully be aware of how important this game is for Spurs. With the away leg to come, we need a cushion of a nice lead and no away goals conceded before we head to the Wisla Stadium.

The opponents on Thursday night are Wisla Krakow (nicknamed White Star), the Polish champions who defeated Barca 1-0 recently and a team who will provide us with a tough hurdle in our bid to make the group stages of the competition. Wisla currently lie in 5th place in the league after 5 games played.

The Polish side who are managed by Maciej skorza will go into Thursday nights game currently ranked 154th in the Uefa Club Rankings with Spurs in 33rd place. However, Wisla should not be underestimated, having Won the Polish Championship (Ekstraklasa) and finishing as runners up in both the Polish Cup and the Polish Super Cup last season.

The main threat is likely to come from Tomasz Dawidowski and Paweł Brożek, the latter having score 43 goals in 111 appearances for Wisla in what is his 2nd spell at the club.

White Hart Shame

Whilst still shell shocked by the result last night, I wrote the following on a forum. Think it sums up how i feel.

I know this may be a controversial thing to say and some on here will do doubt disagree but I will explain why I feel like this afterwards.

We/Ledley really need to make a decision on his future and if he is not able to play at least 75% of the games then I'm afraid to say, as much as it hurts, that he should step down and move into coaching at Spurs.Now for my reason:

In order to be any sort of success in any league in the world you need consistency. With Ledley coming in and out every third game there is no way of Woody gaining a strong understanding with a defensive partner and consequently I feel this is really destabilising to the defence and the team as a whole. Granted, the whole team tonight were dire and it was not solely the fault of the defense but it CANNOT help having to play with a new centre back pairing every other game. At least if we knew 100% that Ledley was not available then we could pair Woody someone who he is able to play with week in, week out and gain an understanding with. We all love Ledders but for the good of the team we MUST put sentiment aside!

As I say, it really hurts to write this but we Can't keep chopping and changing players in different positions as we are doing.

Gus 'Very Happy' At Spurs

Gus Poyet today moved to dismiss speculation linking him with the vacant managerial post at Newcastle.

In an interview, published today on the official site, Gus commented,
"I'm very happy here. I've had almost a year back at the club with Juande and Marcos. This is just speculation and it's all too easy because of my relationship with Dennis Wise. It's nothing to worry about and all I intend to do is relax and continue with my job."

So hopefully Gus will keep to his word and stay as he is certainly a possible Spurs Manager of the future!

Comolli On The Brink?

After the farcical end to the summer transfer window, it now appears that the man responsible for transfer dealings at White Hart Lane may be under immense pressure to keep his job after a number of apparent cock-ups.

Having failed to sign Arshavin, Milito, Garcia, Veloso (those are the ones we know of), on or before deadline day, it now looks as though Chairman Daniel Levy has had enough after a number of complaints from frustrated supporters. The successes in this window should not be forgotten as these signings will serve us well, but what confuses many supporters are the lack of signings in the most needed of positions. Selling Berbatov and getting one of their young stars who we will now train up for a year before sending him back, has also gone down like a led balloon in N17 as it appears that Man U win whichever angle you look at it.

If Comolli was at school, his report for the last few months would read....'not a bad year but MUST DO BETTER'!!!

So after what can only be described as one of the strangest days in recent history and one that made the plot of Great Expectations appear comparatively straight forward, I can only feel that we are left with egg on our face and a huge profit.

That is not to say that this transfer window was a disaster, far from it, but if I have learned one thing from this transfer window, and I hope I finally do, it is that there are far too many people out there claiming to have 'insider knowledge' or that they are a friend of Levy's Aunts dog and have therefore been giving our entire list of summer transfer targets. Previously I have found myself hooked on this type of gossip and banter, that was until about 12.01am this morning when the harsh realisation dawned on me that we were not 'about to sign Veloso, Arshavin, Villa, Eto'o, or Diarra', as the so-called insiders had hinted and that in fact we were only spared from being graced by the presence of such world class strikers as Emile Heskey and Carlton Cole from being reported over this mornings cornflakes at the last minute! Now I am not saying that all of the information that is given by these people is false or made-up but there are obviously a lot of people looking to guess at the clubs transfer targets in the hope of getting one name right and therefore being worshipped by all that read the information.

Regarding Berbatov, yes I am pleased that we received over £30 million for a player who has disgraced himself with his behaviour at our club but why oh why do we, after knowing the situation for months, seemingly leave everything until the last minute and therefore end up with a young, unproven striker in Fraizer Campbell. Yes I, as much as the next person, will support the boy when he pulls on the lillywhite but for me replacing Berbatov with Campbell, especially knowing we would receive £20m + from the Berbatov deal, is just not good enough. We now have only Darren Bent and Fraizer Campbell available for European games as we are led to believe that Pav is cup tied. That from a team which last season boasted Defoe, Bent, Keane and Berbatov. Agreed, three of those four did not want to play for us but for goodness sake we had 3 months to arrange a replacement but as always we left things until hour x and found our self bidding for Heskey. I would rather have taken £10m for Berbs a few months ago and signed a suitable replacement than what we have ended up with. He only cost us £10m in the first place!

The signings of Corluka and Pav are very positive ones but alone are not enough for a team who recently claimed that they were expecting to break into the top 4.

Only three months to go until it starts all over again but remember.....don't believe everything you read!!!

On what is already looking like frantic day on the transfer front, we have confirmed the signing of Vedran Corluka from Manchester City on a 6 year contract. SSN also suggests that we may make moves for Diego Milito and Garcia depending on the Berbatov saga and the Arshavin camp also still insisting that the deal is still possible.

Looks like its only going to get busier as the day progresses.....only 11hrs 41 mins to go!!!

The fickle finger of football has today been pointing up to St James Park for Spurs as we have been drawn away against Newcasle in the 3rd round of the Carling Cup.

At the moment a home draw in a cup competition for Spurs seems about as likely as a Robbie Keane header and once again the majority of the 'top 4' clubs have been drawn at home.

Today's UEFA cup first round draw saw us paired with Polish Champions Wisla Krakow, with the first leg taking place at White Hart Lane on 18th September. The Polish side recently defeated Barcelona in the Champions League so will be a stern test for us. Hopefully some new signings in much needed areas will have us looking in better shape by then!

The Big Kick Off!

With the first day of the new season just a day away now, anticipation is running high as are our hopes and ambitions. Whilst trying to remain calm, it is hard not to get swept up in the furore that the pre-season campaign and at set of shiny new signings have ignited in N17.

With Ramos at the helm, we are really starting to believe, and in contrast to recent years, so it seems are the players. Darren Bent has looked like a man possessed during pre-season and may at last get the chance to shrug off his £16m price tag and become a real spurs hero in what may be a lone striker role. The youth and exuberance of the likes of Messrs Dos Santos, Modric, Bentley, Jenas, Lennon and co really whets the appetite and although we still look short in some areas, most noticeably at CB and CF, things look more positive at the Lane than they have done for a while. There is also still 2 weeks of the transfer window left and with the talent spotting skills of Ramos and co we may still be in for a few surprises.

Tomorrows game see us face a Middlesbrough side who have signed Didier Digard from Paris St Germain and Marvin Emnes from Sparta Rotterdam and who have also lost their opening fixture in each of the last two Premier League seasons.

Spurs have, as we have tried to forget, lost their opening fixture in each of the last two Premier League seasons and won only one of their last seven opening fixtures.

Lets hope this trend is finally put to bed for us tomorrow and we start the season with a nice win!

With less than 48 hours to go till the big kick off and me trying to keep calm working about as well as a Robbie Keane header, the first team news has filtered through prior to Saturdays game.

Believe it or not, Ramos has a near full squad to pick from with other rumours today stating that Gazza Bale will start at left back. I'm going for a 2-0 win or maybe, once again, that is just the blind faith we all suffer from!

When Saturday Comes!

As we fast approach the dawn of a brand spanking new Premier League season, our minds turn to Saturday and the welcome return of many 'must see' offerings for any die hard Spur on the box.

Gone are the days when you had to wait till half an hour before the game for any sort of coverage on a dodgy wireless, waving it around like a man possessed in order to get any reception. No, now we have wall to wall coverage from pretty much the crack of dawn until bedtime. We love it!

So in order to hopefully make things a little clearer for you (and myself), I have put together a sort of TV guide for dummies for this coming Saturday. Hope this helps!!!

The Anticipation Begins

Having been unable to post for the last couple of days, I thought it only right and proper to do a mass sweep of all that has been going on in that weired and wonderful world they call Spursland. My main problem when doing this was not only where to begin but also on what to include! I say this because although, as is often the case with our beloved Spurs, there has been much written, published and regurgitated on numerous occasions, the problem for all of us Joe Bloggs is what to believe and what is just the sour ramblings of a fleet street journo or wannabe ITK.

So I decided to skim off the fat and write about what is either 100% fact or pretty much common knowledge, (even this can be difficult with the Lillywhites)!

So as the faithful once again make their way up the Tottenham High Road through the empty pizza boxes and nightclub flyer's, we await the first and only home game of the pre-season programme against AS Roma, in what should be a good warm up and welcome to all the newbie players.

Our pre-season schedule thus far has been a success, (injuries to key players aside)and this has included an 8-0 and two 5-1 wins. The highlight though has arguably been the surprise success of what may be our one recognised striker remaining at the club (Darren Bent) after the anticipated departure of Dimitar Berbatov, a man who makes Nicolas Anelka look positively ecstatic.

Our latest pre-season outing saw a swaggering, confident Spurs ease part German giants Borrusia Dortmund by 3-0.

On the transfer front we have said goodbyes to Troy A.H, Anthony Gardner and Leigh Mills, all on loan and as we had reported previously, David Bently was at last given his move to the Lane and made his debut in pre-sason. See the right hand panel on this page for all In's and outs!

The rumours are constant and numerous. According to many sources, but strangely not a confused Man City, we are very close to signing Verdan Corluka. The 22 year old Croat defender is an international team mate of out own Luka Modric and would add some much needed defensive cover to the side. Ceaser Sanchez, the 36 year old goal keeper of Real Zaragoza is also tipped to be next on the 'IN' conveyor belt as cover for our new number 1. Finally, the Andrei Arshavin saga rumbles on with the skillful attacking player reported to have gone on strike at Zenit in order to get his move to Spurs. This 1 may go on and on and........

And Finally.....

Spurs last week announced that we now have our very own motor racing team with the Spurs car to be unveiled on Sunday at the Lane. The Club will become the first Barclays Premier League team to join the football-themed motor racing championship, Superleague Formula.

Our Spurs colours will be on one of the 750 horsepower, V12 powered Superleague Formula Panoz chassis and will first race at Donington Park on August 30/31.

Lets hope the football team is also revved up and ready to go!

Spurs have tonight announced the £15m signing of David Bentley from Blackburn Rovers. The midfielder was at Spurs Lodge today to undergo a medical and agree terms. It is believed that he has agreed a 6....yes 6....year contract. The former Arsenal youth player will add great delivery from wide positions and set pieces as well as his pace down the wings. It has also been revealed tonight by the agent of Andrei Arsharvin that he has agreed personal terms with Spurs but the two clubs are yet to agree a fee. Stay tuned for more on this 1....

Breaking news tonight that Blackburn have signed Spurs keeper Paul Robinson for £3.5m on a 5 year deal. Robinson who made 175 appearances for Spurs even managed a goal in the 06/07 season but his poor form last season sealed his fate.

We will have to wait and see if this has anything to do with the Bentley to Spurs deal!

Bent Earns His Spurs

Darren Bent may not have started too many games last season, but in Spain tonight he rose above everyone to loop a header into the opposition net and earn
Spurs a draw.

In this 9.30pm k.o local time, 8.30pm GMT, Spurs had their first serious test of the pre-season programme, in a game noticeable more for the absentees on the Spurs side. Robbie Keane was not in the starting 11 nor on the bench for the game and rumours are bound to spread as to his whereabouts. A flight to merseyside perhaps? Missing was also Bale and Hutton both apparently nursing injuries already!

Hurcules took the lead in the 5th minute when a cross from the right was met at close range by Addison who fluked one into the Spurs net. Spurs plugged away though, Dos Santos impressing most for the lillywhites with some good runs and shooting practice, and in the 35th minute they got their reward. Woody and Bent went up at the same time to head home a Lennon cross and it looks as though Darren Bent got the final touch to level the scores.

Finally, was great to see John Bostock and Andros Townsend get a run out for the final 10 minutes here. The former looked sharp and could even have won the game for Spurs in added time when he thumped his shot wide.

The Dominoes Begin to Topple!

So it's 1 out....6 to go, as last night we discovered that Teemu Tainio has agreed terms and completed his move to the north east. Following him any time now should hopefully be Pascale Chimbonda, with the other two deals for Younes Kaboul and Steed Malbranque respectively also still possibilities. The fee for Tainio is, as always with Spurs, undisclosed but it appears that if all 4 players do decide to join Roy Keane on Wearside, then £20m plus may be heading the way of the White Hart Lane coffers. I'm my view, Teemu has always been a great worker and has given his best when he has pulled on the white shirt, but has just lacked that extra edge to keep his place in the first team above other players. We wish Teemu all the best at Sunderland.....except against Spurs of course! He is probably one of the few players on their way out of N17 who are sure a warm welcome when he returns, as opposed to the Robbie Keane's, Dimitar Berbatov's and Pascale Chimbonda's of this world!

Also looking to be on his way out is long suffering goalkeeper, Paul Robinson. After losing faith in him halfway through last season, I will personally be relieved to see Robbo move on and the noises are that this may even be part of a deal to sign David Bently in the summers longest running saga.

Finally, we are hearing that Anthony Gardener is set to join newly promoted Hull City and that Spurs are lining up potential players to come in should Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov move on....possibly including a certain two Russian players (wink wink).

JUANDE RAMOS will launch a £57million spending spree after being promised all the cash from the sale of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane.
The Spurs boss is planning a quadruple swoop for strikers Diego Milito and Roman Pavlyuchenko, plus wingers David Bentley and Diego Capel.
Ramos is relying on the £25m price tag on Berbatov and the £18m for Keane — despite Tottenham’s claims the duo are not for sale.
White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy is threatening to report Manchester United and Liverpool over alleged illegal approaches for his star strikers.
But both players have said they want to leave and the club are already planning for their departures.
First on Ramos’ wanted list is Real Zaragoza striker Milito, a 29-year-old Argentine international recommended by assistant boss Gustavo Poyet.
Milito scored 15 goals last season and is seen as the perfect replacement for Berbatov — despite Anfield boss Rafa Benitez claiming he is not quick enough for the Premier League.
Real Zaragoza are ready to sell Milito for £10m after their relegation from La Liga.
Ramos plans to team him up with Pavlyuchenko, the man who scored both of Russia’s goals when they beat England in a Euro 2008 qualifier last October.
Spartak Moscow have already rejected Tottenham’s £10m bid for the 26-year-old striker, and claim they will not sell to a club who have not qualified for the Champions League.
But the Londoners are confident an improved offer of about £15m will clinch a deal.
It is the same story with wide men Bentley and Capel, who have also been the subject of unsuccessful bids.
Blackburn snubbed Spurs’ £12m offer for Bentley last week and will not sell for less than £17m. Seville left winger Capel, 20, could cost at least £15m.
Former Seville boss Ramos gave Capel his chance at the club, but relations between the teams have been strained since the manager’s move to London last October.
Spurs’ initial £12.5m bid for Capel included the proviso the Spaniards dropped their £3m compensation claim for Ramos.
But Seville will not let their Spanish Under-21 star go on the cheap and aim to squeeze every penny they can out of Spurs.

Spurs secured the second win of the pre-season with a 4-2 win over C.D. Denia on Saturday Night in Spain.
The Spurs goals were scored on this occasion by Adel Taarabt, Jermaine Jenas an own goal and the last coming from Darren Bent against Denia who play in the third tier of Spanish football.
Jonathan Woodgate, Tomas Pekhart, Oscar Jansson & John Bostock all also got a run out in another laid back friendly in Spain before the pre-season programme continues back home on Mon 28th July versus Norwich City.

Levy On The Attack

As a result of Manyoo and 'Pools much publicised pursuit of two of out most valuable assets, Daniel Levy yesterday issued the following statement:

"Today's public comments by Manchester United's Manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players. It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.
"This comes after a series of events, dating back to last summer, which have shown Manchester United to be in breach of Premier League (PL) rules. As a result, we have today made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Manchester United. Benitez made similar comments in respect of Robbie recently and we made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Liverpool earlier this week.
"The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful. We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request and we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct.
"Our subsequent position has been severely compromised by both clubs making their intentions widely known and indeed making contact with the players and their agents, without the Club's permission.
"I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence. This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.
"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

Both players have now lost any respect I had for them and I say good on Daniel Levy for standing up to the arrogance of these managers and clubs. It now looks certain they will both leave, however if, as Levy has stated, they are causing disruption to the dressing room, we clearly need to sell them both asap. Get as much as we can for them and get in some quality players who want to play in the Spurs shirt. And to think, some Spurs fans were calling Keane 'Mr Tottenham'! Right, after taking a day off to recover from the head jam that is the transfer window, I wake up this morning to find that we are being linked with buying and selling more players than I can keep up with. So in order to put mine (and your) minds at rest, for a few hours at least, here's a round up of sorts....

First off the Daily Mirror today reports:

Tottenham aim to clinch the £17million capture of England star David Bentley today - and send Paul Robinson to Blackburn in the deal.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and Rovers supremo John Williams are to have a summit to thrash out figures for the exchange deal that will see Bentley get his wish to leave Ewood Park and Rovers a replacement for Brad Friedel.

Manchester United have agreed to pay Tottenham a club-record £28million for Dimitar Berbatov - but may have to wait a few weeks before completing the deal.
Sir Alex Ferguson finally made his move for the Bulgarian striker over the weekend.
An initial bid of £20m was rejected and it was then reported that United would make a £25m take-it-or-leave it offer.
However, the two clubs have now come to an agreement after chairman Daniel Levy insisted the champions pay closer to £30m.

News is spreading fast today regarding a potential move for Robbie Keane to 'pool and a move by Spurs for a Spanish Striker.

The Spanish Striker in question is Luis Garcia of Espanyol with the fee mooted at between £6-9m.

Further to this news, today Waffa Benitez has broken that golden rule of not speaking about other clubs players in what seems another blatent attempt to 'tap-up' Keano.

Benitez is quoted as saying:

"Keane is one of the other names and okay we are still working with other names. We were in contact and we will see now."

Seems like a pretty clear cut case of tapping up to me, but then again as we all know there is one rule for last seasons top 4 clubs and another set of rules for the rest.

Incidentally, I would not be against selling Keano for £10-15m and getting Garcia for £5-10m as although Keano is a very good player on his day, he has too many off days for me and the frustrated arm flapping when something goes against him was getting a bit tiresome.

WHL's Revolving Door

The Sun are today reporting that the revolving door at White Hart Lane is set to swing into action with a number of players being linked to a closed season exit.

Most of the names are to be expected and this is apparently to help fund our bid for Blackburn Rovers David Bently which has turned into one of those really drawn out affairs that we have come to expect. One thing I am confident of is that Mr Levy will do everything he can to make sure he gets a good deal for Spurs!

Ramos to wield huge Spurs axe

RUTHLESS Juande Ramos is getting ready to launch a mass cull at Spurs.
The Tottenham boss will slash his squad by selling a whole TEAM of players — plus five substitutes.
Ramos is unhappy with some of the stars he inherited from his White Hart Lane predecessor Martin Jol.
The Spaniard must also balance the books after bringing in more than £40million of talent in the January and current transfer windows.
And he needs to raise cash to finance a £15m swoop for Blackburn’s England winger David Bentley.
The team of Spurs stars set for the exit — dubbed Tottenham Hotspurned — look as though they would hold their own in the Premier League.
But Ramos is not interested in a mid-table finish and has set his sights on closing the gap on the top four.
Ramos took over from Jol in October last year and lifted the Carling Cup in his first season.
But Spurs stuttered to finish 11th in the league and Ramos is desperate to improve his squad further.
He was quick off the mark in signing Luka Modric from Dinamo Zagreb for £16.5m this summer. The midfielder, 22, went on to star for Croatia at Euro 2008 last month.
Ramos also snapped-up highly-rated Mexican winger Giovanni Dos Santos, 19, in a £4.7m deal from Barcelona.
The Spurs boss began the expected Lane Drain by selling promising keeper Tommy Forecast to Southampton for £200,000 on Monday.
The rookie, 21, is set to be followed out of White Hart Lane by former No 1 Paul Robinson.
England flop Robbo, 28, hopes to resurrect his career by sealing a £4m switch to Aston Villa.
Middlesbrough are also interested in Robinson, whose days at Tottenham look numbered with the imminent £7.8m arrival of PSV Eindhoven’s Brazilian keeper Heurelho Gomes, 27, who is awaiting a work permit.
In defence, Pascal Chimbonda, Michael Dawson, Anthony Gardner and Young Pyo Lee are all likely to be shipped out.
Chimbonda’s agent Willie McKay said he expects the French full-back to leave before the start of the new season with Newcastle, Portsmouth and Jol’s new club Hamburg in the hunt for his signature.

Dawson is also a target for the Toon and Premier League rookies Hull, while fellow centre-back Gardner is close to completing a move to new-boys Stoke.
Younes Kaboul is another that faces the Ramos boot. The French defender, 21, was a £7m Jol signing but failed to impress.
Portsmouth are favourites to sign Kaboul and are set to make a £6m bid. Full-back Lee is lined-up for a return to his former club PSV — possibly as part of the Gomes deal.
Midfield quartet Steed Malbranque, Teemu Tainio, Kevin Boateng and Hossam Ghaly all look to be on their way out of N17.
Former Fulham ace Malbranque is a £4m target for Villa and Tainio is another linked with Jol’s Hamburg.
Real Betis are after Boateng and Ghaly is attracting interest from Blackburn and Derby, where he played on loan last season.
Spurs insist they do not want to sell Robbie Keane, but the club — and player — may find it hard to reject Liverpool’s advances.
And fellow frontman Darren Bent could be offloaded after a disappointing season following his £16.5m switch from Charlton 12 months ago.
Sunderland are leading the chase for the England man but are yet to meet Tottenham’s valuation.
Ramos also wants rid of fringe defenders Paul Stalteri and Ricardo Rocha. French winger Adel Taarabt is a loan target for West Brom.

Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan yesterday lambasted a Football League tribunal decision that Tottenham should pay just £700,000 for teenage prodigy John Bostock, describing the amount as ‘scandalous’.
The frequently outspoken Jordan’s overwhelming emotion was one of disappointment and he questioned the governing bodies’ commitment to youth development and the academy system in this country.
The fee for midfielder Bostock, 16, could rise to £1.25million depending on appearances, but it falls well short of Palace’s asking price of an initial £2m rising by a further £2.5m.

‘For a tribunal to reward a purportedly bigger football club in Tottenham to take one of the most gifted young English players in the country for a sum of £700,000 is nothing short of scandalous,’ said Jordan, who sent manager Neil Warnock and chief executive Phil Alexander to the meeting at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
‘You get players like Aaron Ramsey, who has gone for £5m from Cardiff to Arsenal because that is the UK transfer market.
‘The tribunal, in my view, are supposed to reflect the conditions of the transfer market place. And they came up with a figure of £700,000 for a player who has captained his country at Under 17 level, who is perceived to be one of the best youngsters in the country and is being chased by Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.
‘We had a £900,000 offer from Chelsea when he was 14 which we turned down. It’s beyond me and it makes me question why I bother with football.
‘I have an academy who have produced a world-class footballer for someone else and got paid two-and-sixpence for it. We weren’t unrealistic - we didn’t try to be clever and put a value of £5m on the player.
'We simply said this is what the player is worth, these are the reasons why he is worth it and all we wanted was a fair and equitable outcome.’
In the wake of England’s failure to qualify for Euro 2008, Jordan questioned the wisdom of tribunals allowing elite clubs to poach young talent for knockdown fees only to put them in their reserves.
He said: ‘We have a national team who can’t qualify for the European Championship and we have a shortage of players of the required standard to compete in world football.
'One of the reasons the Premier League is the best in the world is because it is made up of 50 per cent foreigners. So when big clubs buy our own younger players and don’t use them, how the hell does that benefit the national game?
‘I don’t feel it sends out a good message to people who pump millions into youth development. A significant amount of money we could have got from the disposal of John Bostock would have been ploughed back into youth development.
'And what’s going to happen to our young players when they are stockpiled in the butter mountains of the Tottenhams and Chelseas of this world?’
Bostock became the youngest player to pull on a Palace shirt when he made his first-team debut against Watford at 15 years 287 days last October. And Jordan insisted the player’s future would have been better served if he had continued his development in Palace’s first team rather than opting for a place in Tottenham’s reserves.
‘The most disappointing thing is we had a player we nourished and cherished for nine years,’ he said.
‘He’s a player who cited his desire to be the youngest ever to play for Palace, which he achieved, and to be the youngest captain of Palace.
‘He was looked after for a long time with bespoke training specifically for his development. It was John Bostock’s year next season at Palace and we weren’t going to sign central midfielders because we wanted to clear a path for him.
‘He’d have got into our team this year and established himself as a first-team player at a big club. I’m not so sure that’s going to happen for him now.'

The Daily Mirror today reports that Pascale Chimbonda's short career at Tottenham Hotspur may well be over. The fee is reported to be £8m in which case I would say, 'bite their hand off'.

Pascal Chimbonda will move to Spanish club Valencia this week in an £8million deal as Spurs finally get shot of the White Hart Lane bad boy.
Chimbonda will begin preseason training with the La Liga outfit on Thursday after agreeing personal terms last week.
The former Wigan right-back is set to line-up alongside Spain's Euro 2008 hero David Villa next season after the striker publicly rejected moves to Chelsea and Liverpool.
It is understood Valencia first made their interest in Chimbonda known in January, but a swap deal for the Spanish club's right-back, Miguel, failed to materialise as Spurs boss Juande Ramos was not a fan.

Chimbonda will still get to play European football next season as Valencia qualified for the UEFA Cup alongside Spurs.
But his departure brings to an end a Premier League career blighted by controversy.
Chimbonda moved to Spurs only after handing in a transfer request to former club Wigan while still in his strip after their defeat to Arsenal in 2006.
The request to leave the club he later branded "a stepping stone" came just six months after he renegotiated his JJB contract for a further four years.
But he has been surplus to requirements in north London ever since Juande Ramos took over last season. He was hawked around to other clubs in January and was linked with Newcastle and Aston Villa.
Spurs pushed Chimbonda further out in the cold when they brought £8m right-back Alan Hutton from Rangers.
The final straw for Spurs fans was his show of petulance in February's Carling Cup Final against Chelsea.
When replaced by Tom Huddlestone, he responded with a slow walk to the touchline and an angry stomp straight down the tunnel.
He then missed a penalty as Spurs lost a UEFA Cup shoot-out to PSV.
